September Grappling & Coaching Workshops!

September Grappling Classes & Leadership Team Events! 

On Friday we kicked off our new ground grappling program at the dojo. It was our first monthly grappling class which will continue once a month throughout the school year for all of our age 7+ current students as part of their monthly membership. Our night began with a 7+ beginner/Green/Brown belt class that focused on guard retention and attacks from guard. The second grappling class of the night for youth Black Belts and Black Belts worked on mount retention and mount attacks. Both classes were lead by Sensei with the support of 4 of our teaching team members and were heavily supported by Leadership Team members who put their coaching and mentoring skills to practice. We are looking forward to our next grappling class later this month.

We followed up grappling with workshops for our Leadership Team and Teaching Team members. Our support coaching workshop for our Leadership Team was the first of our 2022-2023 season. In this session we trained in one-on-one coaching and assisting in classes with younger students. This is one of our two main workshop offerings for our leaders. Then our Teaching Team attended their final coaching training class of the month. These workshops keep our Teaching Team up to date on instructional strategies and curriculum. Our teachers are required to attend multiple training events each month.
