October Belt Test Day!

Belt Test Day! – Leadership Team Coaching – October Grappling Classes!

The dojo was busy with monthly offerings and our quarterly belt test last week. Our Friday featured the second monthly grappling class of the school year for our age 7+ students. We held a class for the 7+ beginner/green/brown belts and an advanced workshop for our Black Belt & Black Belt candidates. These grappling classes are part of the monthly membership for active 7+ students and are offered once each month.

Friday night’s Leadership Team offerings featured a support coaching workshop for our level 1 and 2 Leadership Team members. This session taught our leaders strategies for supporting our green and brown belt students. We focused on 1 on 1 coaching. Our Leaders will employ these strategies when they assist in classes as team support members.

The weekend wrapped up with our biggest event of the fall – our October quarterly Belt Test. The day featured 4 testing sessions for our 7+ beginner to brown belt level students. Our first two tests of the day were for our beginner students, up to blue belt rank, and our second two tests were for our green to brown belt ranked students. Sensei was joined by 8 teaching team members who demonstrated, sat on the judging panel, and coached our students during the test. He also had a number of Leadership Team students in attendance for some of the tests. These students offered parents and students a look at advanced karate at Magnus through short demonstrations prior to each testing’s start. It was a really great day at the dojo as all of the test candidates showed great progress in their martial skills. Sensei could not be more proud of everyone’s performance and is looking forward to awarding new belts in the beginning of November.
