September at the dojo sees the return of familiar faces back from vacations and a return to the school year routine! We were excited to get back into the groove and add some school year favorites back onto the dojo schedule.

Some highlights of September include:

PNO – FLOOR IS LAVA

It was exciting to have our first Parents’ Night Out event of the school year this month! We started off with a crowd favorite – the Floor is Lava Night. It featured two fun sections: a Floor is Lava obstacle course and a glow Nerf battle for the more than 40 kids in attendance. The night wrapped up with pizza and a movie – Across the Spiderverse!

LEADERSHIP TEAM SEASON KICK OFF

The 11th Leadership Team season began this month with our first team training for all Leadership levels. Our first session featured public speaking skills in group training exercises and class coaching tools that the Leaders will use during assistant volunteer time. The training was followed up by the season kick off party!!

SHOBAYASHI KAN FALL GASSHAKU

We had the opportunity to be the host dojo for the Shobayashi Kan Fall Gassahaku for the second time this year! Sensei’s teachers, training partners from the Shobayashi Kan, and other martial practitioners joined us for three days of martial training under the instruction of Major Bill Hayes, USMC (Ret.), direct student of Grandmaster Eizo Shimabukuro, 10th Dan, Shorin-Ryu and Senior Instructors Dr. Tony D’Angelo, DMQ(China), Kyoshi and Tommy Revell, Kyoshi. Attendees traveled from other parts of Pennsylvania, the Chicago area, Virginia, North Carolina, New York, the Boston area, and Ireland for an incredible weekend of training and camaraderie. It is an incredible honor for Magnus to open our dojo up for this event and special opportunity for not only our adult students, but our Teaching Team members and some of our teenaged students to train at high level with Sensei’s teachers and training partners.
